​ @Transmission1 does the BT allow you to connect to a BT headset/speaker or is it just of programing?

I was already to go find one of these online, when I saw the TX Check marks in the CPS software skipped right over the GMRS (US) frequencies! Tell me it ain't so. There's no 462/467Mhz (FRS/GMRS Channels)?

Good video. I've been waiting for these radios to improve on the airband reception, seems like they are doing that. Bluetooth option also interesting.

Hi Simon, good review. I have one of these and I am amazed by it. I replaced the stock antenna with a Nagoya N771 antenna and I can speak to a friend of mine 10.3 miles as the crow flies, on VHF & UHF ham bands no problem! Hope to catch you on PMR again. Cheers. Steve de 26TM372.

The unused pad on the PCB for what appears to be an SD card slot was probably what was going to be used for the record function. I have the same radio, and the same SWR meter!

I just got a Quansheng UV-K5(99) and found the air band reception to be excellent, unlike other Chinese radios.

Great review, and great channel. What I dont get is on UK 40 (27/81) you have less then 4 watts across the band? Doesnt quite make sense when the legal max., is 4 watts... That aside it's a great set up for the money and the sound quality - especially on AM.. fantastic. 🙂👍

The P1-3 buttons can't be programmed for scan, so I have to plug in the mic to get it to scan. I only bought mine to scan air band on a desk radio.

Seems to be an excellent radio! The speaker on the Randy 3 sounds better to me though and you can even set the tone there.

In order to get a more accurate SWR reading, I made a ground plane plate out of a piece of 8"x7" 26 gauge aluminum roll flashing. With a 19/64" hole drilled dead center, it fits perfectly between the double male adapter and the antenna you are testing. Using this method I got perfect SWR readings on GMRS channels with two different radios using my 771G antennas, confirming - to me at least - they are optimized for those frequencies while non-GMRS frequencies had higher readings.

Would like to know if the sensitivity of this radio in reception compared to Yaesu and Icom on a scale of 0 to 10 what rating would you give?

2 in succesion sent back to scamazon, loud hiss in all bands. tinny sound. buggy sticky menus. isnt worth the extra band bs if it isnt a pleasure on the ears! which is bloody a shame since the battery life is downright phenomenal! went with the all black model retevis resemblant k5 with the non orange screen! all i can ask for with excellent audio.

Mine gets clobbered by pager interference. After I loaded the memory channels with the supplied software, it no longer powered up. Sent back.
